Our new bishop will come to his/her new office facing a number of different challenges. One of them will undoubtedly be the current state of ministry to youth in the diocese of Nevada. I now humbly ask those of you reading this blog to think about how this ministry might be strengthened so that our youth might be best served by our church.
Naturally, the opinions of the youth of the diocese are very important, and I hope that those of you who are youth will take the time to comment.
Blessings,

Thanks for the question. I pray the bishop elected will see the sacristy model in this diocese and change it so that we CAN put our money where our mouth is and ministry with the youth in this diocese to grow in the Love of God and ministry in Christ.
Can you explain what you mean by "sacristy model"?
We do have much work to do. I pray that we will elect a Bishop with the relational and organizational leadership skills to address our ministry with the youth. But it will take more than one person and some money: a core of committed young adult and adult volunteers, supported by consistent diocesan systems are a critical part of the foundation of the program. It is too big for one person to fix, and we obviously don't have adequate processes in place to address support requests at the diocesan level. Beyond that, we must look at how we value the voice of youth at the parochial level as well - a start point would be the voting abilities of youth ages 13-18. Is their voice valued enough that we give them voting rights at parish annual meetings? How do the canons change at each level of our organization? How do our actions speak louder than our words and our budgets?
