Walkabouts begin Friday

Our candidates for bishop will be arriving in Nevada very shortly, and the walkabouts will offer us all a great opportunity to meet them and find out more about who they are. In turn, they will get to tour the length and breadth of the Silver State, and I'm sure that they'll be both surprised and impressed with the beauty and diversity of this place as well as its vast size.

I am privileged to be able to accompany this wonderful group of people on their journey, and it will be educational for me as well since I have not been able to spend much time getting to know the state. Here's what you can expect from this blog over the next week, and what you will not see:
  • I will report on the walkabouts to the best of my ability and post as soon as possible after the event is finished. In places where there is no Internet access I may not be able to report in right away, but I will do so as soon as I can find somewhere to get connected.
  • I will report my general impressions of the setting we find ourselves in.
Now here's what's not going to be reported:
  • I will only blog the proceeds of the walkabout visits. Anything that happens on the bus, at meals, during prayers, and in hotels is strictly off limits. Not only do the candidates and their spouses deserve privacy, I don't want to spend a week on a bus with everyone being afraid to talk to me. In other words, if you're looking for gossip, you ain't gonna get any.
  • I will not offer my opinion on how the visits went, the theological finesse of the candidate's answers, or who I think would be the best person for the job of Bishop of Nevada. My opinion doesn't matter: yours does.
  • I will only say nice things about the food and coffee at each stop.

Let's all remember to pray for the candidates, their spouses, those who travel, and all those who will choose our next bishop. See you soon!

Blessings,
RR+
